'2017–The Year of Anniversary': non-heteronormative, non-utopian, unwritten.
2017.05.01
Monday, 1 May, 6 pm at the CAC Reading Room

“2017 – The Year of Anniversary” is a short science fiction story taking place in a parallel timeline of historic Lithuania. The story’s protagonist Bubilan is trying to survive the Hunt Challenge in the forest of Dzūkija and prove their ideas. The story is set in motion by a decree released by V. Lenin in 1917, decriminalizing homosexuality and leading up to the titular anniversary.

On this occasion, we invite you to a discussion and conversation about the history of this text, non-heteronormative Lithuanian language, a fragile line between utopia and dystopia and obstacles faced by emancipatory politics. The talk is headed by Agnė Vaiciukevičiūtė, the author, and Gintaras Dautartas – one of the creators of non-heteronormative Lithuanian language system.

Fragments of the open discussion / talk will be included in the text of the upcoming publication.

The event is free and will take place in Lithuanian.
